Bybit UTA: choose isolated, cross or portfolio margin
Choose a Bybit UTA margin mode by product support, shared collateral and risk boundaries; keep margin, available and transferable balances distinct.
Choose how risk is shared
Isolated margin allocates margin by position; cross and portfolio modes assess more of the account together. Bybit's account convenience therefore changes the risk boundary. Start with which assets you intend to expose, rather than the largest available buying power.

Review the configured scope before using funds
- Position-level margin
- Account-level collateral
- Product and risk fit
Read the product list before switching
Supported products differ by margin mode. A workflow using spot margin or options may not carry over to the isolated configuration described in the overview. Check the account's current mode and the intended instrument before placing an order.

Do not read margin balance as cash
Margin balance is a converted collateral measure; available balance is the amount available for new orders. Neither label means the same as the coin amount transferable out. Keep these three figures separate when deciding whether another position is affordable.

Make the decision with a risk map
Draw one box for each strategy and mark whether collateral is shared. If a long-term holding should not support derivatives, review collateral selection or a separate subaccount. This is a configuration decision, not a promise against trading losses.
