Schwab International: documents before funding an account
A qualifying country and matching identity documents come before funding; the international guide says to wait for account activation confirmation.
Residence is an eligibility input
The guide begins with residence in a qualifying country. A passport alone does not establish the same access for every residence; Vietnam acceptance is not verified by the general application walkthrough.

Match the records
Upload a valid passport or government ID and proof of residence showing the same name and current address. The guide also asks relevant employment and source-of-funds information.

Wait for activation
Schwab’s walkthrough says review can take three days to two weeks, depending on completeness, and explicitly says not to fund until activation is confirmed. This is an estimate, not a personal approval deadline.

Choose funding after the account exists
The international brokerage page lists wire, mailed cheque and another-broker transfers. Those are funding routes, not approval for forex: the dealer restricts that product to US customers.
