IBKR: manual versus auto conversion
USD 1,000 and USD 20,000 examples isolate minimum effects without a universal recommendation.
Convert basis points correctly
The first tier lists 0.20 basis point, meaning 0.002%, with a USD 2 order minimum. It is not 0.20%. Auto typically adjusts the rate by 0.03% without separate commission. This is the UK-route direct-client schedule; advisor/IB charges can be added.

Diagram explained
Conversion size changes the comparison
- 0.20 bp = 0.002%; USD 2 minimum
- USD 1,000: manual 2; auto ≈ 0.30
- USD 20,000: manual 2; auto ≈ 6
Two assumed amounts
At USD 1,000 equivalent, manual max(0.02, 2) is USD 2, versus about USD 0.30 auto. At USD 20,000, manual max(0.40, 2) is USD 2 versus about USD 6 auto, before market pricing, rounding or tax.

Availability comes before comparison
Auto is not guaranteed for every trade/account. Cash/margin capabilities and product permissions differ; inspect the available function and settlement timing before treating the services as interchangeable.
