Questrade $0 stock commissions: routing and other costs
Most stock trades have no commission, but selected US routes, overnight fills and account transfers can create separate costs worth checking before an order.
The $0 boundary
The headline covers online trades in US and Canadian-listed stocks and ETFs. It does not erase administrative fees, financing interest or every exchange-related transaction fee in the separate schedules.

Diagram explained
Route, session and account action all matter
- Online listed stocks: $0 commission
- 100 overnight shares: $0.30 example
- Transfer-out fee is separate
Routing can change the bill
The transaction page says Canadian securities have no ECN fee, while selected direct US routes and US overnight fills are exceptions. A route selected manually on Edge is different from ordinary smart routing.

A scoped calculation
The published US overnight fee is $0.003 per share for the stated 8pm–2am ET session. An illustrative 100-share fill in that scope incurs $0.30 before any other applicable charge.

Transfers are a different event
The administrative schedule lists $150 for a full or partial account transfer out. A zero-commission purchase does not mean the account can later move to another institution without an exit fee.
