Trade Nation: short FX can still pay funding
An interest differential smaller than the markup can debit both sides; do not reuse stale bank rates.
Differential after markup
Costs explains FX using the two-currency interest differential and a 2.5% service charge; a nominal credit can become negative after fees. Market information gives the 22:00 UK roll; shorts are not automatically credited.

Diagram explained
Short does not assure positive funding
- Assume favourable 1% annual differential
- 1% − 2.5% = −1.5% annually
- GBP 10,000 × −1.5% / 365 ≈ −GBP 0.41
A 1% differential example
Assume the nominally credited direction earns a 1% differential but pays a 2.5% markup: net −1.5% annually. On GBP 10,000 with 365 days, the daily component is about −GBP 0.41. This is not a live pair rate.

Price points and cash differ
Do not apply the percentage directly to the per-point stake. Use exposure and the right day convention/period. Fixed spread concerns entry/exit pricing and does not lock financing for the position’s lifetime.

Platform-table limits
MT4 has a separate from-spread schedule and execution. Use actual account rates/contracts instead of extending a UK spread-bet example to every entity; do not add volume or holding time to chase unconfirmed credits.
